The White Horse Hotel has run in Eglinton for 35 years, with electricity among its largest operating costs across round-the-clock lighting, heating, kitchens and laundry. TRE Energy re-audited the site to size a system for current and future demand, installing 155 kW across multiple slate and flat roofs, harvested by high-end German-manufactured SMA inverters, with an online portal giving the hotel real-time visibility of generation. The system produces over 99,900 kWh a year and delivers a 29.3% saving on electricity bills — bringing the effective cost to around 2p per unit over 25 years against a grid price that has already doubled.
